This workshop is an introduction to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS). Gain an understanding of the health and safety legal requirements applicable to all businesses, the impending WHS changes and how they affect you.


This WHS workshop will provide participants with details across the following areas:

  • Act – Duties

  • Regulations

  • Future WHS Act/ Regulations

  • Codes of Practice, Guidance Notes and Australian Standards

  • Definitions: Hazard or risk, Employer / Self-Employed person / Person in Control of a business or Undertaking and Reasonably practicable

  • Hazard identification

  • Risk assessment

  • Risk Control

  • Common workplace hazards and subsequent employer requirements under the Act: Plant and Equipment, Hazardous Substances, Working at Height, Electrical, Consultation and Communication and PPE

  • Regulators/ Inspectors

  • Penalties and Breaches

Graeme is a Safety Professional with well-developed risk management, assessment, investigation and communication skills.  Actively involved in Occupational Safety and Health consulting, investigations and methodologies and the promotion of safe working cultures, with wide ranging experience in multiple industries, including construction, electrical, oil/gas, manufacturing, SMP, education and public facilities and waste water treatment industries.

Prior to commencing Safety Solutions WA in 2010, Graeme held safety positions within private companies, as well as being a WorkSafe Inspector and Police Detective.

The Safety Solutions WA team led by Graeme has a proven ability to effectively manage a high volume of work whilst under tight deadlines. The team have the ability to build close and successful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve a common goal in making workplaces safer.
